Unbranded UB-221 (3 Years, Unknown Washes and Soaks)

When you wear your jeans long enough, they become one with the earth. At least that’s the case with this week’s Fade Friday, featuring one pair of down and dirty Unbranded UB-221s sent over to us by Ridwan Pradana, of Indonesia.

Clocking in at a whopping total of three years and three months of wear, Ridwan tells us that he simply wore these heavyweight jeans every day until they “died“. Having made no repairs to date, these UBs are plenty trashed and beaten, with two blown open knees and a smattering of holes around the front and back pockets.

In terms of fading, the photos speak for themselves. Years of wear and three sea washes have turned these blue jeans beige, but they still show plenty of character with the pops of blue behind the knees and in the whiskering throughout the waistline.

You can follow Ridwan on Instagram.

It’s war for The Flat Head. The 12 oz. S2003 WWII Denim Jeans are inspired by WWII-era Levi’s 501 jeans, but made modern through Japanese craft and technique.

If you’re wondering what makes WWII-era Levi’s 501s special, it’s the resource-saving details from a rationing wartime America. Arcuates were painted instead of stitched, fabric offcuts were used for pocket bags, and coin pockets were reinforced with bar-tacks instead of rivets.

Cut from a lovely lightweight 12 oz. yarn-dyed Japanese selvedge denim that’s sure to fade better than those true blue vintage pairs out there, the S2003 is a straight-tapered fit with a mid-high rise, a great fit for most infantrymen out there – comfortable and functional without too much extra fabric draping toward the hem.

Each pair is made in Japan, with all the aforementioned WWII-era denim details – iron doughnut button fly; bar tack embroidered reinforcements; Japanese-milled flannel random pocket bags; red selvedge ID; and hand-painted back pocket arcuates that will likely chip off and create interesting patina over time.

Available for $337 from Corlection.
