Fade Friday – Iron Heart IH-777N (4 Years, 1 Wash)
For the last 3 years and 8 months, Taqy has been seasoning his Iron Heart jeans, giving them an all-access pass to his life. Living i the denim fading epicenter that is Indonesia , Taqy has worn his Iron Hearts at university and while riding his bike, hiking, and camping. Even to the job site as an engineer! These jeans have seen it all and have the crinkly receipts to prove it.
However, something is different about these fades and it took me a minute to realize what. But then it hit me. Unlike the average submission where the fades cut through a dark backdrop, it’s the darker areas that stand out on these. The areas around the fades are bright and grainy, with the faded areas possessing deep shadows giving these jeans a truly unique look. inverse fades!
You might be wondering what the secret to achieving this is. Well, in addition to constant wear in a hot, humid climate, I forgot to mention, that at his engineering gig? Yeah, he wears a pair of coveralls over his jeans, boosting them into fade overdrive. Not for the faint of heart. Literally. Where my heat strokers at?

Are you a professional drifter looking to upgrade your bindle? Look no further than Bleu de Chauffe‘s latest Hobo Bag. Historically crafted from full-grain leather, this edition of the Hobo leans further into the rugged, workwear aesthetic of the American frontier, being built from the same canvas and leather combination successfully deployed on Bleu de Chauffe’s popular Bazar Tote Bag.
You can’t do much better than a Bleu de Chauffe piece when it comes to bags. We had the privilege to see the brand’s operation in Aveyron where each bag is handmade using time-honored, artisanal processes which, when paired with top-drawer materials, create a superior heirloom quality product.
Talking about materials, this edition of the Hobo Bag is made from 18 oz. waxed twill from British Millerain. This super heavyweight fabric has an extremely close weave and comes dry-waxed – two characteristics that imbue the fabric with weather-resistant qualities for your travels. Pair this with robust vegetable-tanned leather handles, straps, and trims, and you’ve got the weekend bag to end all weekend bags.
Each bag is made with ornate Bleu de Chauffe branding on the exterior, a large internal compartment, an additional zipped pocket for your valuables, and comes signed by its maker to ensure authenticity and unique character. And if dry-waxed canvas isn’t your thing, the Hobo also comes in a variety of leather and nubuck makeups.
Available for $362 from Bleu de Chauffe.
Established in 1993 by Japanese manufacturer Toyo Enterprise, Buzz Rickson’s has built a reputation in the repro world as one of the most faithful lines of early, rare, and classic military and workwear garments available for sale. Manufactured using old-school machines and methods whenever possible, there is no compromising when it comes to producing their roster of cult classics. And for the first time ever, it will now be offered at Philly’s own Franklin and Poe.
To celebrate the stockist getting Buzzed up, we figured we’d touch on some of our favorites that they have up for grabs.
The first has to be the Set-In Crew Neck Sweatshirt in a variety of colors. Modeled after some of the earliest sweatshirts in existence, they are made using loopwheel machines from the 1920s just like originals would have been, making these an incredibly dedicated homage and a staff favorite here at Heddels. The result is a tubular-shaped design that weighs in at 12 oz. and is finished with 4-needled lockstitch seams. A recipe for a long life ahead with much softness to look forward to. And yes, double ‘v’ stitching is in the house.
Next up is the Rough Wear Clothing Co. Type A-2 Bomber because, yeah, of course Buzz is geeking out into contract numbers. Made from a veg-tanned bronco hide, you can look forward to a larger collar than other variations and an unparalleled dyeing process which includes tannin that has been extracted from tree bark and classic seal brown aniline dye. Built to last forever and develop some ridiculous patina along the way, no need to hunt down an original when you can get the same joy out of an exacting replica that can be worn without worrying about structural integrity.
Lastly, we have to throw the WWII Black Denim Waist Overalls. Modeled after wartime denim which was simplified due to rationing, these jeans feature arcuate-less back pockets, HBT pocket bags, and laurel wreath fly. Oh, and a roomy wide fit that goes with everything. However, these are fascinating because they implement a slight ‘zag’ from the Buzz Rickson purist approach. As part of the William Gibson collection, these jeans are admittedly a riff. Black WWII denim never existed making these somewhat of a dream vintage piece – or rather a great pair of black jeans for fashion lovers who want a bit of historical significance to their gear.
There is of course much, much more on offer over at Franklin and Poe, and we’re excited to seeing what they buy in going forward.

We’re officially into fall, and that means a lot of spooky weather. It’s always good to equip yourself with garments and accessories that suit the weather, and since we’re typically wearing ball caps year-round, the American Trench Cashmere Ball Cap dropped just in time to haunt your head. Just ’cause it’s cold, doesn’t mean the sun isn’t out, and there’s very few accessories as stylish and comforting as a classic billed cap.
This ball cap is made all the more beautiful and comfortable due to the fact that it’s made from a nicely textured 100% cashmere grey knit fabric. That’s a luxury cap, not to mention the genuine full grain leather strap with antique brass hardware on the back. This is a true ball cap design, with a cashmere-covered button, cashmere interior, and adjustable visor. It’s a simple thing, really, but it works so well and looks killer. Made in NY.
Available for $150 from American Trench.
