Fade Friday – Nudie Grim Tim Dry Selvedge (10 Months, 2 Washes)

For this week’s edition of Fade Friday, Ratchanon over in Thailand has some Nudie Grim Tim Jeans that we think you should see.

Worn for under a year — yes, under —the denim has gone through an impressive transformation. The perfect storm of a humid climate, constant wear, and a few washes along the way have led to dramatic gill-like honeycombing, broad whiskering, and plenty of bright blue zones like the knees, calves, and seat.

Working as a construction worker day in and day out, you can almost visualize Ratchanon’s days through the clues on his jeans. And having speedran the heck out of these poor unsuspecting Grim Tims, we’re curious as to what Ratchanon’s next fade venture will be. We’ll keep an eye on our fade inbox for the next instalment.

Lighter than lightweight (at least by boxing standards), Gustin’s #351 Japan Featherweight jean is a breezy 6oz., about half of what you’d find on a typical pair of jeans. But don’t think that means this pair doesn’t have any heft to it, the denim is a Japanese rope-dyed indigo selvedge, and it’s replete with the standard rivets, patch, Gustin’s signature selvedge ID belt loop, and is available in their Straight, Slim, and Skinny fits.

They’re funding now for $169 and expected to deliver just before the dog days of summer, get in on this fabric at Gustin.

What stops many people from getting their hands on a pair of Vibergs? The price point. Most pairs of Vibergs start around $850 and can rocket up to near $2,000 if there is a really special leather involved. And while the superior quality and cost-per-wear metric certainly makes these price points fairer than they sound, it’s completely fair enough that many folks can’t — or don’t want to — part with that much dough.

Whatever your situation, you can save money on a pair of Vibergs with their super-limited archive sale. Until Monday 3rd June, you can shop their archive of past-season models and factory seconds, all at heavily discounted prices. The sale includes Viberg’s iconic Stitchdown Service Boot®, Chelseas, Scout Boots, Hikers, and more.

Shop the sale at Viberg Archive.

Remember ONI‘s Asphalt selvedge denim that sold out everywhere last year? Well, it’s back! Just tuned up for summer and under a new name. And don’t worry – the nep and texture levels are still cranked all the way up.

Available across three different ONI silhouettes, from tapered to relaxed, each jean in the Crushed Concrete series is made using the top-tier formula we know and love from the Japanese  label. Heavy duty bar tacks, a custom vegetable-tanned leather waist patch, robust pocket bags, hidden rivets, chain stitching, a selvedge coin pocket, and more.

We’ll keep our eyes open for jackets and other drops from this special fabric.

Available in very limited quantities for $255 from Redcast Heritage.

Bikers rock denim and leather whatever the weather. And while that tongue twister is certainly a generalization, it’s not without any evidence. Look at legendary motorcycle-inspired label, Iron Heart, who stay dropping end-tier leather jackets while riding into summer. Maybe match these with the Featherweight Gustins

The latest rendition of Iron Heart’s Riders Jacket comes crafted in Japan from vegetable-tanned horsehide, sourced from Himeji — Japan’s leather tanning capital. Not only is this sturdy hide veg-tanned — it’s also pigment-dyed brown — meaning that with wear and ridin’, the pigment will slowly fade, revealing the natural tone underneath. When we use the term end-tier whilst talkin’ about leather jackets, that’s the kinda stuff we’re lookin’ for.

Available at Iron Heart for $2050.
