We’ve come to another edition of Fade Friday and whatever you have planned for the weekend, it’s probably not as heavy as these Samurais, submitted to us by Zach from the United States. After almost a decade of wear, it comes as no surprise that this pair of 21 oz. S5000VX is looking completely shredded.
Zach tells us he’s been wearing these regularly for nine years, losing count of how many times he’s washed them in that time. What we’re seeing here is a classic case of Samurai fades – vivid, widespread, and chalky in tone from the coarse, abrasive denim. Stark whiskers span the lap, clawing down to the knees, whilst rippling stacks add another dimension to the hems, which have developed roping of their own. And of course, in true heavyweight style, we’ve got a set of insane honeycombs that have stacked up and even started to crock.
There may be no arcs left on Zach’s back pockets, but there’s still some juice left in these Samurais, and he didn’t outline any plans to retire them just yet. Regardless, they have certainly set a standard for a year of fades ahead.

Drawing on the golden era of Motorcycling (1925-1946), the Cockpit USA Moto Collection has options for anyone looking for a rugged, biker-centric leather — from horsehide Riders Jackets to Stonewashed Goatskin Dispatch Jackets, and more.

Did ya hear? Skinner American Goods took a Japanese-milled, 100% cotton sashiko stitch reinforced fabric, and stitched it into the ever-amazing OG-107 military fatigue silhouette. Known for their pure functionality and ease of wear, these chopped fatigues are going to age a hell of a lot more interestingly than your standard OD green fare.
Constructed in the USA by one-mad-brand-man, Daniel Skinner, the fatigue shorts are tonally stitched with American threads, and feature Japanese YKK zipper front closure, Japanese-sourced black button closure, and a classic OG107 pattern with a key quality of life improvement — elastication on the back of the waistband to forgive just a bit of stretch around the belly line.
Just be mindful of the quantity of indigo dye packed into this fabric, don’t sit on Grandma’s white furniture. If the Uber driver turns up with white leather interiors, Fuhgeddaboudit.
Available for $165 from Skinner American Goods.
Arguably one of the most interesting fabrics Iron Heart has been working with in recent years, their 21 oz. Japanese serge cloth is back — this time used for their Windbreaker in Black and Indigo.
Truly redefining what it means to be a gust-stopping garment, this jacket is in a different lane to those paper-thin crunchy nylon layers you might be familiar with. Featuring dual zip and snap closure, this wearable Fort Knox ensures no cold air gets in and no warm air gets out. Tubular knit storm cuffs and snap hand pockets keep things above board, but the most striking detail in our eyes is the deep raglan-cut sleeves providing unmatched freedom of movement and refreshing style points.
Made to last and built to fade, after mixing in some elbow grease you can expect high-contrast wear patterns throughout making it, like so many of Iron Hearts creation — not one to sleep on. To sleep in – outside, maybe – much more plausible.
Available for $500 from Iron Heart.
New Americana powerhouse Brave Star‘s latest Mojave Jacket in 18 oz. Dry Wax Canvas is a seriously sexy piece of outerwear. Taking inspiration from modern and classic silhouettes alike, this hybrid style of jacket is a proprietary Brave Star silhouette. It’s effectively a Type II jacket with upgraded bits and bobs that’ll make your time spent wearing the jacket more functional and keep you lookin’ fine.
Aside from its appealing looks, this rendition of the Mojave is done up in a heavyweight 18 oz. dry-waxed canvas from the historic Scotland-based Halley Stevenson fabric mill, a bit of meaningful canvas armor for your daily motorcycle stunts? Yes, please.
Dual acorn style flap pockets dot the chest of this jacket, which has reinforced front and back yokes, reinforced pleating on the front, dual slash welted hand warming pockets up front, branded metal buttons throughout, button adjusting waist and cuffs, embroidered signature BS star on the back, and a teacore tanned leather cowhide patch on the interior.
Available for $168 from Brave Star.
Left Field NYC is no stranger to Double Knee Pants. As one of the most esteemed heritage workwear makers in the USA, they’ve been producing some of the most interesting double knees work pants in the game for some time — from Duck Canvas to Japanese Frogskin Herringbone. Continuing this pursuit, Left Field is kicking off 2025 with a solid four-way drop of duck canvas double knees, utilizing formidable fabrics from Japan’s Nihon Menpu Mill and Georgia’s Mount Vernon Mills.
Naturally, we’ll start by looking at the indigo-dyed member of the gang the Japanese Indigo Selvedge Duck Double Knees. Made from 12 oz. indigo-dyed selvedge duck canvas from the legendary Japanese fabric mill, Nihon Menpu, these are built for work, play, and fades. There’s a head start in the fade department, too, thanks to a light stonewash finish that provides a preview of how that indigo dye will chip away over time. Indigo-dyed double knees don’t roll around too often, so snap these up whilst you can — it’s hard to think of a better pant to start breaking in through springtime.
The rest of the drop consists of 3 Mount Vernon Mills Duck Canvas options. Founded in 1845 to produce sailcloth and canvas, Mount Vernon is one of the last workwear fabric mills left in the US, arguably making the best Stateside cotton duck on the market. Weighing in at 13 oz. per square yard, this particular duck has landed in olive, black, and chocolate, each with the same gentle stonewash that has given each pair character from the jump.
In terms of silhouette, Left Field NYC’s Double Knee Work Uniform Chino is a classic straight-leg fit. No gimmicks, no fancy tapering, just pure Americana goodness. Each pair is cut and sewn in the USA with a double knee (with knee pad opening), knife pocket, double side pocket, and coin pocket. Copper rivets and signature Left Field green bar tacks keep construction secure whilst a brass repro Talon zipper fly and custom Left Field Bandana pocket bags finish things off in style.
Available at Left Field NYC from $220.
