Samurai Jeans S5000VX 21 oz. (3 Years, 4 Washes, 1 Soak)

The fade level of these jeans…it’s over 5,000!

Dragonball Z jokes aside, it’s seriously impressive to see fades like these on a Samurai 5000VX, one of widest cuts from the Japanese brand. But Singapore’s heat and humidity have lent a helping hand to Ahmad Ibrahim’s fading efforts over the last year and a half, which is why they’re this week’s Fade Friday.

Heavyweight 21 oz. denim in the tropics has caused pretty much all of the indigo from the knees to the pockets to pack up and get the hell off of these jeans. Aside from the eye-popping whiskers and honeycombs, there’s also an impressive level of pucker fades on the hems without much serious roping.

You can follow Ibrahim’s fades on Instagram.

The Mister Freedom Appaloosa Western Snap Shirt in 10 oz. NOS 2×1 “Liberty” Denim is the vintage-style shirting option you’ve been looking for. You might say ok, Obi-Wan, but why? Listen up, young padawan, Mister Freedom takes direct inspiration from traditional clothing and workwear styles and improves upon them – as if they were a brand existing in the mid-century era themselves.

This MF take on a Western shirt is cut from a new old stock (AKA never used fabric that was milled by the now defunct Columbus Mills in Georgia) 100% cotton non-selvedge lightweight 10oz. 2×1 woven twill denim. Straight from the days when mills only made fabrics for a purpose, this denim was made to perform! And I’m not just talking about at the rodeo, no — you can wear this thing dressed up or down as you please. Isn’t that nice?

Suitable for a ranch hand but detailed for the poshest of cowboys: 50s-era style painted metal DOT snap button front placket (made to age and chip for extra depth), dual slanted western style flap pockets sewn into a classic “Roebucks” style slanted front yoke, snap-adjustable cuffs, chambray fabric side gussets, chain stitched side seams with runoff, all contrast stitched.

Available for $330 from Franklin and Poe.

It’s 2025 and that means it’s time to get froggy. Enter Left Field NYC‘s Camouflage Frog Skin Japanese Fabric Double Knee Work Pant. It’s a new year, time to make your legs disappear. Seriously though, frog skin camo is super cool, and a quality maker like LF transforming this Japanese-milled 8 oz. 100% cotton fabric into a sturdy pair of double-knee work pants makes for a serious grail item.

Factor these frogs into your new year wardrobe budget if you want a fun pair of pants to wear on your day off, or if you WFH, every single day. They’re light and breathable enough to wear constantly in the jungle, so they’re bound to be good enough for sitting at your PC playing Final Fantasy, and will only age and patina beautifully with time. Camo is underrated in that way.

Each pair is made in the USA with the following details: multi-pocket carpenter pant design, tonally stitched, doubled fabric front reinforcement, riveted seam reinforcements, green bar tack embroidered seam reinforcements, aged copper buttons, zipper fly, fabric reinforced back pockets, and a nifty LF tag on the back pocket.

Available for $250 from Left Field.
