Fade Friday – Pigeon Tree Veg Tan Quick Release Belt (10 Months)
/ Fade Friday /
If you want to see how quickly natural vegetable-tanned leather can wear in, check out this Pigeon Tree belt worn by Dustin in Buffalo, NY.
Dustin didn’t tell us his daily regimen, but we do know that in just 10 months, this belt has developed the classic patina we know and love from natural veg-tan leather. It’s darkened quite a bit, and wear is most apparent in the belt loop key fob and the dark creases where the belt sits when being worn. The contrasting black bridle leather keeper has dulled in color but has picked up some sheen of its own from natural oils and wear.
The inside of the belt has taken on a bluish hue from being worn with denim, and the hardware has darkened and dulled nicely – brass ftw!
This belt is currently unavailable, but there are always gorgeous belts to be had over at Pigeon Tree.

The world of pediatric oncology isn’t one you hope to engage with, but I was personally grateful to learn about the DSPTCH x AERO project this morning. In a time where society feels perennially divided, stories like this remind you that ordinary people can pull together when times are tough and skills to prop each other up.
DSPTCH has launched its new AERO Pack, a special bag designed to support children with leukemia in carrying the necessary equipment to undergo the promising new treatment, Blinatumomab, also known as Blina. This treatment presents a challenge in that it requires a device to be carried at all times for up to 28 days.
DSPTCH designed this bag for Aero Huang Scott, a 4-year-old from San Francisco who, at just 2 years old, went through Blina treatment for B-cell ALL leukemia. DSPTCH consulted with doctors, nurses, and Aero’s family to formulate a small pack that would be able to comfortably carry the Blina equipment whilst allowing Aero to live the free, unobstructed life that a 2-year-old deserves.
“We had about 20 days to put a solution together for Aero before she began her next treatment. With the help of Aero’s doctors and nurses, we made a sample that was able to comfortably and safely hold all of her treatment equipment as she prepared for her next cycle. The bag features various pockets and loops made to her equipment spec’s that would allow her to play, sleep, and ride in a stroller or car without worrying about where her gear would go. “ – DSPTCH
Since supplying Aero with the inaugural pack, DSPTCH has teamed up with Aero and her family for a full rollout of the Aero Pack. Coming in 4 colorways and 3 special edition variants spanning 12 oz. denim, 19 oz. cotton duck, and 420D nylon, the Aero Pack can be used by anyone with its handy 6L capacity and adult-sized shoulder strap (add-on). And of course, the Aero pack can be customized with a Blina insert for children undergoing the new Blinatumomab treatment. In fact, 5% of all proceeds from the DSPTCH x Aero pack will contribute to providing packs free of charge to families in need in the Bay Area.
Every bag is made in the USA by DSPTCH and is expected to ship in December ’25
Available from $90 at DSPTCH.

Few garments can walk the line between cozy and put-together like the shawl-neck sweater. Plain-colored versions were donned by omnipotent menswear icon Steve McQueen, but jacquard knit renditions with contrasting patterns were immortalized by The Dude in 1998’s The Big Lebowski. Played by Jeff Bridges, The Dude famously rocked a jacquard,Cowichan-inspired shawl-neck sweater with loose-fitting pajamas. The centerpiece of an iconic lounge-ready fit, The Dude’s cardigan has become a sartorial cult classic.
Now we’re not asking you to become a total idler, but we are asking you to take a look at Iron & Resin‘s new Wincha Shawl Collar Sweater. This 80% Merino wool, 20% nylon number is inspired by the shawl collars of yesteryear, the kind worn in both cozy cabins upstate and iconic film sets. But this isn’t a reproduction; this is a proprietary Iron & Resin silhouette, complete with a custom ‘Wincha’ pattern inspired by headbands worn by women of certain South American indigenous communities, such as the Aymara and the Quechua people.
Coming in a relaxed fit and oversized buttons, the Wincha Shawl Collar Sweater can straddle anything from laid-back outfits to smarter looks and everything in between. Iron & Resin’s styling of the Wincha with its Double Knee Journeyman pants posits a nice juxtaposition between traditional knitwear and rugged workwear, but you could dress this all the way down with some sweatpants and a beanie, or all the way up with a button-down down some chinos. Just make sure you don’t get mistaken for the real Lebowski, or things might get ugly.
Available in Black & Natural colorways, each Wincha Shawl Collar Sweater comes fitted with dual front pockets and ribbed knitting on the cuffs, placket, and shawl collar.
Available at Iron & Resin for $295.
It’s hard not to let out an internal “woah” when you take a look at a jacket like Freenote Cloth Mariner. It’s an amalgamation of various patterns of the N-1 Deck Jacket if they went through a goth phase and hooked up with a G-1 along the way.
As the name would suggest, the maritime classic N-1 is clearly the blueprint for this Freenote piece. It’s made from the same tightly woven Bedford Cord that original N-1s would have enjoyed, sourced from Japan in this instance. However, you’ll notice the fabric has been dyed black — as opposed to the traditional navy blue, tan, or olive drab. This stealthy tweak, along with the proprietary silhouette, makes Freenote Cloth’s Mariner hard to ignore if you’re looking for a deck with a difference.
Fitted with a Universal zipper and Alpaca/wool lining, all from Japan, this Jacket is straight up worldwide. Especially when you count the custom horn buttons from Italy. Closed out with a hefty fold-over collar, D-pockets, and a generous chin strap, this raglan-sleeved beauty is ready for a tour of the 7 seas. Or just the DMV is fine, too.
Available for $800 from Franklin & Poe.
If you want to carry your open-collar frolics of summer into fall but aren’t cold enough to draw for your vintage Pendleton Shirt just yet, 3sixteen is bridging the gap with its Loop Collar Shirt in Marled Cotton.
Inspired by vacation shirts popularized in the mid-20th Century, this is a right loosey goosey shirt that’s super easy to wear. Throw it over a t-shirt, open, or closed. With chinos, shorts, denim – dealer’s choice. The Loop Collar shirt is made in India from a gorgeous marled cotton. Look closely, and that marl takes on a whole different personality, looking almost knitted. This, combined with the shorter cut and long sleeves, gives these shirts an almost cardigan-esque character.
Finished with mother-of-pearl buttons, the two colours are equally tasty. The fabric’s warp and weft transform them: the chocolate is a dark-grey-brown, and the black is a grey-blue-black.
Available from 3sixteen for $180.

We know and love Bleu de Chauffe for its use of waxed cotton in the pursuit of end-tier bagmaking, but this season, the French artisans have deployed high-quality double ripstop nylon for a range of lightweight, water-resistant carry that blends tradition and technology. Drawing inspiration from military equipment and outdoor gear from the mid-to-late 20th century, Bleu de Chauffe’s new Paraglyde collection spans three silhouettes that can traverse daily duties, travel, and much more.
The Paraglyde Tote Bag continues BDC’s tradition of producing elevated Tote bags, with its two-way carry system, leather welting, and laptop-compatible main compartment, which comes complete with a drawcord closure to keep the rain out. The Paraglyde Business Bag stuffs oodles of utility into a compact and handsome package, offering a perfect daily driver if you need to transport and organize your work setup. Also boasting a dual-carry system of a shoulder strap and handles, the Business Bag includes a felt laptop pocket that keeps devices up to 16″ safe, and a leather inset for sliding it onto the telescopic handles of your rolling luggage.
Speaking of luggage, the Paraglyde Travel Bag is here to make that autumn weekend away even sweeter with its roomy yet cabin-sized 30L silhouette. This piece comes with large external pockets, a full-grain leather-reinforced zipper, dual carry straps, and includes the same handy leather inset for fixing it onto your rolling suitcase handles.
Hand-made in Aveyron, South of France, each of these bags contrasts the heavy-duty navy ripstop with black webbing straps/handles and strategically placed black vegetable-tanned leather reinforcements that will garner patina with use and wear. Every bag includes a removable inside zipped cotton pocket that’s both dated and signed by the artisan who produced it.
Available at Bleu de Chauffe from $342 (including import duties)
