Fade Friday – Eternal 811 (1 Year, 3 Months, 8 Washes)

It’s not terribly often that we get a pair of Eternal jeans fades sent our way—I’m not even sure if the brand is available outside of Japan these days. But we’re always glad when the brand does grace our inbox, as the fades are usually pretty impressive.
Today’s pair of Eternal 811 comes to us from Aryo in Indonesia, who’s worn them biking, to class, and while hanging out with friends. You know, the good stuff.
With just over a year on the clock, the repairs Aryo has had to make on the back pocket and cuffs indicate just how hard he’s worn these Eternals (check out simple guide to DIY denim repairs if you’re interested in mending your denim too). And before you call foul, remember to consider the heat and humidity in Indonesia (for most of the year)— the climate is basically a raw denim microwave that gives you tasty fades in no time.
He’s also achieved a light, almost grayish, tone on much of the jeans, especially the back. That’s not to mention his shredded honeycombs, nice roping, and some wicked slubs and tears near the cuffs.
Trends come and go, good jeans are Eternal.

Not actually made from the skin of everyone’s favourite diggers, moleskin is a heavy cotton cloth that’s soft, hard-working, and just a little bit luxurious. And it’s also one of the reasons we’re digging the F2361 Moleskin Riding Jacket from Kojima’s Fob Factory.
Made in Japan in three amazing colour ways, Olive Green, Brown, and Khaki, the moleskin that Fob selected is extra thick, so it almost has the hand feel of a leather or suede — but without the price point. Based on an iconic silhouette from a certain waxed jacket producer in the North East of England, the jacket has two large front stash pockets, a natty corduroy collar, and a storm tab so you can pop that collar when the wind gets up.
The creme-de-la-creme of moleskin does serve a purpose, too. It makes the F2361 warm and wind-resistant, and it can take a beating, lasting for years to come. Oh, and it’s got a double zip; everyone loves a double zip. Now all you’ve got to decide is which colour to get—there are three!
Available for $380 from Redcast Heritage.

Hiroshi Kato‘s Shadow Ombre Plaid shirt reminds us that plaid doesn’t have to be loud and crispy to look cool. In fact, the opposite is often true. Thanks to its calming 100% cotton Japanese shadow plaid that nails a darker gradient, you get measured doses of fuzzy color without a total takeover. But beyond its chill look and the instant daydreams of layering, let us be clear that this shirt is not a one-trick pony. Yes, it absolutely looks cool. But under the hood, there are a bunch of nods to workshirts of yesteryear that ensure this thing will be with you for years to come.
Built around triple stitching at the shoulders, back, and side seams, plus bar-tacked utility pockets, not only are you getting period-accurate details with the Brace Shirt, but it’s all in the name of reinforcement at high-stress areas. Accented with a pen slot pocket and chain stitch run-off at the hems—an homage to old-school machines that would leave trailing thread—this mix of historically accurate detailing and modern styling ticks all the boxes. So next time you need to take the chill off, consider putting on this bad ombre.
Available for $298 from Hiroshi Kato.
Frog skin, tiger stripe, and brushstroke are examples of camo patterns we’re sure you know, but Studio D’Artisan is here to disrupt the pattern-disrupting game with its Pig Camo Knit Cardigan.
Pigs aren’t usually well known for their blending in, but this isn’t what Studio D’Artisan is going for here — take a proper look at their iconic, in-house camo, and you’ll see why they’ve given it that name: actual pigs! The Osaka 5 brand is known and loved for its use of pigs—buta(豚) in Japanese— for a whole host of branding and imagery, which now includes this captivating camo.
SDA’s Pig Camo pattern is brought to life on a Japanese-made cardigan, cut from a jacquard-woven blend of wool and acrylic fabric. As well as having a raised, three-dimensional texture, this fabric is nice and hefty. This makes the cardigan a fantastic top layer over a white t-shirt, or you can let the pattern pop from under a sturdy overcoat if it’s really chilly. Finished off with ribbed cuffs and hem and substantial, contrasting resin buttons, pick this up and you’ll be living high on the hog.
Available for $308 from Redcast Heritage.
Everyone needs a good workwear style chambray, don’t they? The Sugar Cane Chambray L/S Work Shirt is the classic workwear-style shirt that looks great pretty much anytime, anywhere. Worn up with some nice chinos and a jacket, worn down with a graphic tee and some shorts… this thing can do it all.
The chambray fabric is very light in weight, so if it’s still sweaty where you are right now, don’t be scared to wear it. You’re gonna look good while giving yourself a little extra protection from the sun. If it’s cold in your neck of the woods, guess what? It’s a perfect layering piece.
With the all-important workwear details: button front placket, rolled triple-needle stitched seams, reinforced back yoke, dual buttoning flap chest pockets with pen pocket, and button-adjusting cuffs. It comes in classic indigo chambray, as well as white, which is a nice change from your usual all-blue everything fits. If you haven’t entered the chambray game yet, this is where to start. Trust us.
Available for $125 at HINOYA.
