The Real McCoy’s Lot 004 (13 Months, 4 Washes)

It was seeing fades like this that got us into raw denim in the first place, so shoutout to “SLAB” from Belgium for submitting his pair of The Real McCoy’s Lot 004 jeans, which he’s been wearing for just over a year now. You might know SLAB from the Superfuture and Denimbro forums. if not, his passion for raw denim is apparent in the awesome fades he’s earned himself here to be this week’s Fade Friday.

SLAB tells us there’s not one particular activity that’s helped carve out these fades, but having three small children running around has definitely contributed! After four washes, the denim has developed a nice steely tone of indigo, which compliments the whiskers and faded lap perfectly. Train-track fades from the denim’s selvedge line run down the outseam, and meet with the clawmarks of a solid set of 360-degree honeycombs.

Both front pockets have earned some patina of their own, too, which is especially noticeable on the coin pocket. And even though these Real McCoy’s have needed some repairs to the crotch and knee areas, they’ve definitely got some fadin’-fuel left in the tank.

You can follow SLAB on Instagram.

Horween is one of the most significant and historic leather tanneries in world. They’re famous not only in footwear for their legendary Chromexcel and Shell Cordovan, but also in the world of athletics for producing the leather that’s in all regulation NFL footballs and NBA basketballs.

British shoemaker Crown Northampton thought that was too good a story to pass up, and has combined those official leathers with their Overstone Lo and Hi sneaker silhouettes in a limited release collection.

There are only 30 pairs of each available, so be sure to shoot your shot before the game clock runs out.

Read all about how this collaboration came together on their blog and shop the collection at Crown Northampton.

Easy pants are here to stay with the Orslow New Yorker Pants. These incredibly versatile pants from the cult favorite Japanese brand are still “hard” pants, but their elasticated waist and drawstring lashings means you can wear them when you’re feeling a little more soft, too. If you’re normally used to wearing jeans and heavy denim, there’s a lot to appreciate in a relaxed tapered pant like these, and there’s zero compromise on quality and aesthetic.

You don’t have to be an NYC fashionista to rock the New Yorker Pants, far from it, you just have to enjoy well made, good-looking clothes – and you’re reading this, so we’re certain you do. The pants are detailed with a Japanese zipper fly, elastic waistband, slash side pockets, chino-style welted back pocket, tonal waist lashings, tonal button closure, Orslow tag, and come in signature Orslow OD Army Green and Sumi Black. Made with a New York state of mind by the garment experts at Orslow.

Available for $240 from Independence (Army Green and Sumi Black).

Freenote Cloth Introduces New Wide Leg ‘Modesto’ Cut

The first edition of Freenote Cloth‘s Modesto Jean is now available to order. These wide-leg jeans harken back to the early days of riveted denim pants – high rise, roomy top block, and straight leg down to the hem. A wide fit is a lovely thing, and you can be one of the first adopters of this particular future classic. How exciting!

These jeans are cut from a heavier-than-average 16 oz. Japanese greencast selvedge denim. Greencast, you ask? That just means the warp yarns are hit with sulfur before being indigo-dyed, giving the resulting denim a subtle greenish undertone. Heavy denim paired with a wide fit usually ends up being incredibly comfortable and durable when broken in — that’s your cue to live in these things and allow that greencast to sing.

Detailed with metal button fly, contrast stitching, S.B. Foot Tanning Co. leather patch, vintage Japanese striped herringbone pocket bags, custom Freenote rivets and buttons, chain stitched waistband and hem, and a gorgeous vintage style pocket flasher that matches the back pocket’s acorn shape that features a simple arcuate and slash embroidered reinforcements. All made the Freenote way — in the USA.

Available for $285 from Franklin and Poe.
